Baking with Isabella: Flaky Puff Pastry Dough!

We are SO impressed that 7-year-old Isabella wanted to make her own Puff Pastry Dough using classic French techniques. You go Girl!

Puff Pastry Dough is very versatile and always super yummy. You can make dishes that are sweet, savory, or a combination of both! Try flatbreads, rolls, pot pies, croissants, sandwiches, pizzas, samosas, empanadas, even mini apple pies... Delicious!

Here, Isabella made Palmier Cookies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhsF_iOEyIg

Ingredients

  • 1.25 Cups Flour
  • 1.5 Sticks of Butter, Cubed
  • 1/3 Cup VERY Cold Water

Instructions

  1. Combine all three ingredients in a large bowl and smash together using a hand blender or masher.
  2. On a sheet of lightly-floured parchment paper, place mixture and form into a rectangle.
  3. Place another sheet of parchment paper on top and roll the dough in one direction only until 3x the length. Remember not to overwork the dough, a marbled effect is ideal.
  4. Fold the top and bottom third inward, turn dough on table, place parchment paper on top and repeat the rolling process.
  5. Fold dough into a square-ish shape and store in fridge until you're ready to bake OR store in freezer for up to 6 months. Enjoy!
